What this notice usually means

Georgia calls a SNAP renewal a periodic review. The state Division of Family and Children Services, called DFCS, sends you a notice when your case is due for renewal. You can send your renewal form and any proof through Georgia Gateway online, or mail in the paper Form 508. Some households also need a short interview, done by phone or in person, at least once every 12 months. Georgia is phasing out a separate periodic report for most SNAP cases once they finish a renewal on or after March 2, 2026. Your own notice shows your exact deadline and the papers to send. DFCS decides if your SNAP case continues.

What to do now

  1. 1

    Find your deadline

Federal rules set a deadline. A renewal counts as on time if DFCS gets your application by the 15th day of the last month of your certification period. Your own notice has the real date for your case. Check it first.

  2. 2

    Gather what DFCS asks for

Georgia Gateway or your notice lists the papers to send back, such as pay stubs or proof of address. Send only what your own notice actually requests.

  3. 3

Send Form 508 or renew online

Renew online at gateway.ga.gov. Or mail, fax, or drop off the paper Form 508 at your local DFCS office.

  4. 4

Complete your interview if one is required

Some renewals need a short interview by phone or in person. DFCS must interview your household at least once every 12 months.

  5. 5

Call DFCS if anything is unclear

Call the Customer Contact Center at (877) 423-4746. Ask about your notice or the renewal steps.

Deadline

Federal SNAP rules set a deadline. A renewal counts as on time if DFCS gets your application by the 15th day of the last month of your certification period. If DFCS closes your case because the renewal came in late, you still have 30 days after your certification period ends to finish the process. You do not have to start a brand new application. Your own notice has your real dates. Those dates control, not this page.

Other households reporting required changes in circumstances that submit applications by the 15th day of the last month of the certification period shall be considered to have made a timely application for recertification.
