Recertification is the SNAP word for applying again. You do this before your food benefits period runs out.
Your SNAP case has a certification period with an end date. Before that date arrives, the agency asks you to recertify with a new form and current proof. Without a completed recertification, your food benefits stop at the end of the period.
This word shows up on SNAP recertification notices, next to the last day of your current period.
“No household may participate beyond the expiration of the certification period assigned in accordance with § 273.10(f) without a determination of eligibility for a new period.”
