Costo
Search and duplication fees can apply, but there is usually no charge for the first two hours of search time or the first 100 pages of copies. You can also ask for a fee waiver if disclosure would significantly contribute to public understanding of government operations and is not mainly in your own commercial interest.
Tiempo de trámite
By law, an agency must decide whether to comply with your request within 20 business days (not counting weekends and federal holidays), and decide any appeal within 20 business days. In unusual circumstances the agency can extend that by up to 10 more working days with written notice. A request for expedited processing gets a decision within 10 days.

Lo que debes saber

Anyone can file a FOIA request with any federal agency. First check whether the records are already public. There is no specific form required; the request must be in writing and reasonably describe the records you want.
