What this notice usually means
IRS Notice CP80, also called CP080B, tells you the IRS credited payments or other credits to your tax account for a form and period, but has not received your matching tax return. This is not a bill. It is a heads up that a return may be missing. The IRS decides your tax account.

“If you are required to file this tax return, please file today. Send your signed tax return to the address shown on the top of this notice.”

What to do now

Check whether you were required to file that return
Your notice lists the form and tax period. Confirm whether a return was actually required for that period.

File the return if it is missing
Send your signed tax return to the address shown at the top of your notice as soon as you can.

Resend a signed copy if you already filed
If you already sent this return, mail a newly signed copy to the address on your notice.

Call if you want the credit moved elsewhere
Call the number on your notice and give the details of the account where you want the credit applied instead.
